Philip Ramirez, 90, died Friday, October 26, 2012 in Dalhart, TX.

Prayer Vigil and Rosary was held at 8:00 pm Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Dalhart, Texas.

Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Dalhart, Texas

Officiating - Monsignor Michael Colwell, Pastor

Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home - Dalhart, Texas.

Philip Ramirez was born September 22, 1922 in Dalhart, TX to Ascension and Christina (Valesco) Ramirez. A WWII veteran, he grew up in Dalhart and in 1943 he joined the US Army. After returning to Dalhart he married Ida Valdez on September 14, 1950 and shared 62 years of life together, Ida died on February 12, 2012. Growing up Philip enjoyed swimming in the lake and playing baseball. He coached baseball and enjoyed watching the Dalhart Wolves and the Dallas Cowboys. Mr. Ramirez worked for the City of Dalhart before becoming a letter carrier for the US Post Office, he retired in 1988. He loved life and family and his skills with movie and video cameras allowed him to record many hours of family and friends..

Survivors include his daughter - Rosanne Gomez and husband Hector of Dalhart, TX, Sons - Robert and wife Bertha Ramirez of Amarillo, TX, Richard and wife Beth Ramirez of Augusta, GA, Ronnie and wife Leticia Ramirez of Odessa, TX, Reuben and wife Sylvia Ramirez of Amarillo, TX, Russell and wife Taryl Ramirez of Amarillo, TX. 16 Grandchildren and 8 great – grandchildren

He is also survived by a brother Selso Ramirez of Dalhart, TX, sisters - Gavina Dye of Colorado Springs, CO, Isabel Casas of Dumas, TX, and Angileta White of Midland, TX

He is preceded in death by his wife Ida, his parents, 2 sisters and 1 brother.
