Mike Slatton

Michael Slatton, 56, died Thursday, October 11, 2012 in Amarillo, Texas

Funeral Services were held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the First Baptist Church (1000 E. 16th St. Dalhart, TX 79022) Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, TX – under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home.

Mike was born January 7, 1956 in Paragould, AR to Claude and Joyce Slatton. In 1975, Mike graduated from Dalhart High School and was a proud member of the Golden Wolves Football Team. In 1981 he married Barbara Corn and would have celebrated his 31`st Anniversary in the next few days. In 1978 after graduating from TSTI with an associate’s degree in Science he began his dedicated career at XIT Rural Telephone, where he enjoyed his job, many co-workers and numerous friends.

Mike had many hobbies that enriched his life. He was a member of the Dalhart Cruisers. His other hobbies included football, fishing, hunting and coin collecting, making friends and being a precious part of this family and grandchildren’s lives.

He was preceded in death by his father Claude, and is survived by his wife Barbara Slatton of Dalhart, TX, his son Timothy Slatton and wife Sarah of Amarillo, TX and daughter Krystal and her husband Adan` Reynaga of Amarillo, TX, his mother Joyce Slatton of Grapevine, TX and sister Cyndi Burnam of Grapevine, TX and brothers Ricky Slatton and his wife Barbara of Amarillo, TX and Chris Slatton of Amarillo, TX, and sister in law Cheryl Nickerson. Four grandchildren – Bentley, Michael, Hunter, Rylan and Kerlie. Four Step-grandchildren – Adan`, Anthony, Abriana, and Averi. Eight nieces, eleven nephews, and various cousins, other relatives and friends.
