Donald W. Jackson

Donald Wayne Jackson, 65, died Sunday, September 23, 2012 in Dalhart, Texas.

Graveside Services were held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 3rd, 2012 in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Donald Wayne Jackson was born on July 16, 1947 in DeRidder, Louisiana. Moving to Dalhart as a young child with his parents, Don was a long-time resident of Dalhart. He attended Dalhart schools and graduated from Dalhart High School in 1965. After high school, he attended Amarillo College and worked part-time at Marsh Electric. He joined the New Mexico National Guard in 1966 and had his basic training at Ft. Bliss in El Paso. After returning to Dalhart, he worked in his father's business. Soon after, he branched out into his own business as a commercial and residential electrician. He worked hard to build up that business in the Dalhart area, and he passed on his vast knowledge by carefully training other young men who continued in that line of work.

Don enjoyed helping people. He was a volunteer fireman in Dalhart for many years. He also enjoyed animals, fishing, football and music. He loved to read Baxter Black's articles and books.

Don is survived by three sons: Cory, from Norfolk, Virginia, Bradey and his wife, Kristin, from Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Jeff and his wife, Robin, from Valparaiso, Indiana; three grandchildren, Phoebe, Pyper and Braven; one sister, Marilyn (Jackson) Riehl of Memphis, TN two nephews, Thomas and Bill Riehl; one niece Kati Riehl, one cousin, Madge Helen Riherd; and special friends, Kim and Tommy Jones, who have provided care for Don during his illness.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Trixie Jackson.
